Coronado Recreation

The City of Coronado offers a tremendous spectrum of recreational activities for a town of only 25,000 citizens. Besides the 18 parks located throughout the city, Coronado also has the following facilities open to residents of the city. The include tennis courts, a public golf course, a recreation center with a fitness center, dance studio, an adult pool and children's pool with walk in the entrance, an indoor basketball and volleyball court, a climbing wall, and even a skateboard park. In addition to the many public recreational facilities, Coronado is also home to many private companies offering a wide range of additional activities. Below is a list in regard to many of the public facilities in addition to some unique companies offering fly fishing lessons and kitesurfing lessons in the city of Coronado.

Coronado Community Center

There is a pro shop that offers racket stringing, racket rental, ball machine rental and video stroke analysis. Clinics for children and adults are ongoing with open enrollment. Private lessons or clinics scheduled by appointment.

Coronado Golf Course

Opened in 1957, Coronado Municipal Golf Course continues to reign as one of the finest public golf courses in Southern California. This is an 18-hole, par 72 courses with wide inviting fairways and immaculately manicured greens. Coronado Golf Course offers dramatic views of the Coronado Bridge, Hotel Del Coronado, and the San Diego Bay. This course challenges golfers of all skill levels.

Coronado Skate Park

On May 18, 2001, the City of Coronado dedicated its newly constructed world-class skatepark. Encompassing approximately 16,000 square feet of concrete ramps, bowls, grinds and jumps, the park is an artistic sculpture that challenges all levels of skill. The Street Plaza is a 2' to 3' deep spacious crater intended for beginners and the reserved. The Clover Bowl is 5' to 7' deep and offers challenges and surprises to the experienced skater. The last and most challenging bowl named Teardrop reaches 8 feet in depth and poses a challenge to Newton's law of gravity.
