Coronado Parks

Coronado is home to over 18 Parks. The most famous of these parks is Spreckels Park which is named after one of the founders of the Hotel Del Coronado. These parks range in size from grassy neighborhood pocket parks perfect for playing catch to larger city parks and beaches with all the amenities needed for larger gatherings and special events.

Spreckels Park

Location: Orange Ave. and 7th
Details: The most famous of all Coronado parks covers eight acres in the center of town and features a playground and a gazebo, plus picnic tables and restrooms. The gazebo is the site of the Summer Concert Series(Memorial Day through Labor Day), the Annual Coronado Flower Show, Art-in-the-Park vendors and other community activities throughout the year. Donated by and named after one of Coronado’s city father’s J.D. Spreckels in 1927.

Tidelands Park

Location: Glorietta Blvd. and 3rd St.
Details: Tidelands is the largest park in Coronado offering multiple baseball fields and soccer fields, playground equipment for the young, a skateboard park for teenagers, a fitness course for those so inclined and a wonderful view of the San Diego Bay and Coronado Bridge.

Glorietta Bay Park

Location: Silver Strand, (Just south of the new Coronado city recreation facility)
Details: Glorietta Bay Park has playground equipment a small beach on Glorietta Bay, picnic areas and fire pits for barbecuing. This park is also a favorite of many to view the fireworks each fourth of July. There is also a boat launching facility next to the park.

Pomona Park (Officially known as MATHEWSON PARK)

Location: Pomona Ave and Adella
Details: This park offers playground equipment for the younger generation. In addition, many nearby homeowners use this park to host birthday parties and other social events. It is common to see a gathering her on a summer weekend playing croquet or holding a pick-up soccer game.

Sunset Park

Location: Ocean Dr. And Ocean Ct. Details: Sunset Park offers a playground for the members of the Coronado community. In addition, on any weekend day, you can find the park used for a variety of sporting events from soccer, to lacrosse to frisbee and all other sporting activities.

Star Park

Location: ceramonyStar Park Circle
Details: A half-acre park, surrounded by Star Park Circle, it was also donated by J.D. Spreckels, but takes its name from the five streets that shoot out from the middle circle and in early photos resembled a star. Each Memorial Day, Star Park hosts a memo ceremony to honor our military.
